Camira Fabrics signs up with DigiProd Pass

21 Apr 2025 2 min read

UK’s leading textile manufacturer, Camira Fabrics has recently joined DigiProd Pass’ pilot project for the implementation of Digital Product Passports (DPPs) – a fundamental requirement within the EU’s environmental legislation, such as the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulations (ESPR). A DPP is a digital identity card for products, components, and materials, which will store information to support product transparency, traceability and sustainability credentials and ultimately, promote greater circularity throughout the lifecycle.

Over the last 50 years, Camira has been a driving force in British manufacturing and a recognised industry leader in designing and manufacturing imaginative and environmentally progressive fabrics. The company’s focus on greater circularity together with the development of natural as well as recycled materials started back in the 1990s. More recently, the acquisition of a specialist wool recycling operation and other developments in closed loop techniques continues to progress its commitments.

Aligning with their commitment to sustainability, Camira has joined this pilot project initiative to commence its journey in the introduction of Digital Product Passports appreciating the importance of providing traceability and integrity throughout the value chain. This subscription highlights Camira's commitment to working in accordance with EU environmental legislation- including Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), which aims to reduce environmental impact across the entire product lifecycle.

“We welcomed the opportunity to join the pilot project for the development of Digital Product Passports,” commented Ian Burn, Director of Marketing and Sustainability at Camira Fabrics Ltd. “We are proud of our progressive approach to greater sustainability and recognise the importance of this technology in achieving transparency, improved circularity and value retention,” he added.

DigiProd Pass Ltd. is the specialist division of Technovative Solutions Ltd, a UK research-based organisation dedicated to the advancement of innovative digital solutions to address real-world challenges. The company has been awarded numerous UK and EU-funded research projects, including the development of DPP technology for EVs and industrial batteries.

Using its proven experience, Technovative Solutions launched DigiProd Pass to continue the evolution of this technology through the implementation of pilot projects. The company is now working with manufacturers and suppliers across numerous markets including furniture, beds and mattresses, and textiles as well as ‘mass market’ products, such as clothing and footwear, to demonstrate ‘proof of concept’ across a range of sectors. Offering traceability from source through production and sale to end-of-life, DPPs of DigiProd Pass provide evidence of standards, compliance, environmental and social responsibility.

“We are thrilled to welcome Camira Fabrics as we drive the adoption of Digital Product Passports across industries. Their longstanding commitment to sustainability and innovation makes them an ideal partner as we work to advance product transparency, traceability, and circularity. Together, we are setting the foundation for a future where sustainability is not an option but a standard — empowering businesses to lead with integrity and innovation,” said Salauddin Sohag, Managing Director at DigiProd Pass Ltd.
