TVS Showcases Decision Support Platform Advancements at C2IMPRESS General Assembly

22 Apr 2025 4 min read

Laid on the coast of the Black Sea, a peaceful city in northeastern Türkiye, Ordu became lively as numbers of environmental experts from parts of Europe landed there to attend the General Assembly and Consortium Meeting of the C2IMPRESS project on the 8th and 9th of April. Another significance of this region is that Ordu was selected as one of the Case Study Areas (CSAs) of this project due to its position as a disaster-prone location. The Ordu Metropolitan Municipality, one of the consortium members of the project, offers the hospitality of this edition of the assembly. The discussions were aired at the Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Council Hall, while the delegates had site visits - including a visit to the Early Warning System Station. Dr Mohammad Azizur Rahman, Director at Technovative Solutions Ltd and the Technical Lead of the C2IMPRESS project, attended the meeting. After the meeting, he shared with us about the discussions, TVS’ engagement, and the next steps of the project. TVS is leading ‘Platform for decision making for a disaster resilient society’ and ‘Dissemination, Communication, and Exploitation’ work packages in the C2IMPRESS Project.

The Discussion

The C2IMPRESS project has made progress according to the project schedule during the last six months. The leaders responsible for each work package provided updates on the work done by their organisation. Additionally, the consortium partners have shed light on the importance of having harmonisation across the use case activities and thus have planned to develop an interconnectivity-tailored common framework. Some other key discussions that took place at the meeting include:

What TVS Presented

Since Technovative Solutions is developing the Decision Support Platform for the project, they have presented the current status of the platform at the general assembly. Moreover, TVS also presented the C2IMPRESS decision support system (DSS) platform and showcased the details of each tool that is developed and integrated by the organisation.

What TVS Progressed

Technovative Solutions Ltd is playing multiple crucial roles in the C2IMPRESS project, including developing different tools and integrating them into the platform.

In the tenure of the last six months, the development and integration of the Spatial Multicriteria Decision Analysis (SMCDA) tool has been completed by TVS. The organisation has also successfully developed the integration of the Social Media and Big Data Analytics tools into the platform, achieved in collaboration with SAMPAS Holding. Integration of SOS4MHRIN into the C2IMPRESS platform has gained significant progress in this quarter.

In the next months, TVS will finalise the remaining tools integration into the platform. They will also demonstrate the SMCDA tool for the use cases.

Conclusion

At this general assembly of the C2IMPRESS project, participants reflected on the past quarter, enabling them to evaluate the present stage and plan future actions. To ensure the platform's continued successful implementation, according to Dr. Azizur Rahman, the consortium should focus on gathering data from the case study areas and take the results into consideration to progress further.

About C2IMPRESS

C2IMPRESS (Co-creative improved understanding and awareness of multi-hazard risks for disaster-resilient society) project is funded by the Horizon Europe Framework Programme (HORIZON) Research and Innovation Actions and kicked off in October 2022. The C2IMPRESS project aims to offer an integrated solution to provide appropriate fine-grained spatio-temporal qualitative and quantitative data, locally appropriate solutions, and better prediction with lower uncertainty on risks of single or multiple hazards stemming from extreme weather events like floods, wildfires etc., under different climate change scenarios. The C2IMPRESS project will provide a better understanding and public awareness of multi-hazard risks, the associated multidimensional impacts, vulnerabilities and resilience of extreme weather events, including their origins and the aftermath. The project has built its consortium with 16 European and international partners from cross-cutting disciplines and technological backgrounds.

The consortium partners of the C2IMPRESS project are SAMPAS Bilisim, ARTELIA, Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil, I.P., Meteoceanics UNIP LDA, National Center for Scientific Research ―Demokritos, University of Balearic Islands, Istanbul University, Egaleo Municipality, Ordu Metropolitan Municipality, Administração do Porto de Aveiro, Comunidad Autonoma Islas Baleares, RMIT University, Université Grenoble Alpes, University of Cambridge, Technovative Solutions Ltd, and SAMPAS Holding A.S.
