The JustSafe project officially launched with a vibrant and productive kick-off meeting held from May 28 to 30, 2025, in Egaleo, Greece. The event brought together 25 partner organisations from across Europe, marking the beginning of a four-year collaborative journey to develop inclusive, equitable, and sustainable strategies for climate resilience, with a focus on placing vulnerable communities at the centre of adaptation efforts.

Dr Mohammad Azizur Rahman, Project Lead from TVS for JustSafe, attended the kick-off meeting in Egaleo, representing Technovative Solutions through his engagement during the workshops and strategic sessions.

Building Fair and Inclusive Climate Resilience

Just Safe, short for Justice-Oriented Strategies for Social Adaptive Risk Management, is a Horizon Europe-funded project under the call HORIZON-MISS-2024-CLIMA-01-08. The project aims to design and implement just climate resilience strategies that prioritise the needs of vulnerable and marginalised social groups, including the elderly, children, women and girls in all their diversity, and persons with disabilities.

By integrating social justice principles with digital innovation and community-driven approaches, JustSafe seeks to address the disproportionate impacts of climate change on these groups. The project will focus on local demonstration sites while also creating replicable models to extend its reach and influence throughout Europe.

This initiative marks another significant step under Technovative Solutions' Climate Adaptation domain, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to inclusive, community-centred, tech-driven solutions for a changing planet.

Project Scope and Ambitions

Over its 48-month duration, JustSafe will roll out climate adaptation demonstration actions in six pilot locations: Egaleo (Greece), Hamburg (Germany), Amposta (Spain), Zilina (Slovakia), Chios (Greece), and Hatay Province (Türkiye). In addition, replication activities will be implemented in Constanta (Romania), Osmaniye Province (Türkiye), and Smiltene (Latvia), enabling the transfer of knowledge and innovation across diverse regional contexts.

The project operates with a total budget of €7.5 million and brings together local authorities, research institutions, civil society organisations, and private sector innovators. Together, they will co-create actionable strategies and tools that facilitate fair climate adaptation while supporting digital and social transitions.

Technovative Solutions’ Role in JustSafe

As a key technical partner, Technovative Solutions LTD (TVS) plays a leading role in several critical work packages. TVS is responsible for:

  • Developing an Impact Assessment Tool to evaluate resilience efforts.
  • Creating a Volunteer Information Management System (V-IMS) to coordinate local volunteering capacities;
  • Integrating JustSafe’s digital solutions with existing platforms such as CLIMAS and Citizen Tone.
  • Building a Centralised Data Hub for knowledge sharing and cross-regional collaboration;
  • Analysing financial sustainability and corporate climate responsibility strategies ;
  • Establishing the Just Climate Resilience Observatory for Businesses (j-CROB) to involve private sector stakeholders in climate adaptation efforts;
  • Developing a Learning Management System (LMS) focused on climate resilience education for communities and professionals.

These contributions position TVS at the core of the project’s digital innovation, ensuring the long-term scalability and practical application of its outcomes.

Looking Ahead

JustSafe is more than a climate adaptation project. It represents a shift towards a more just, inclusive, and community-driven approach to environmental resilience—one that ensures no one is left behind in the face of climate change.

The kickoff meeting in Egaleo laid a strong foundation for the work ahead. Through interactive workshops and strategic planning sessions, consortium members aligned on shared goals and began planning the first steps of implementation across the demo sites.
